FY 2026 SNAP-Ed Rapid Response Funding Opportunity

Purpose

Michigan Fitness Foundation (MFF) seeks to engage with local organizations and the communities they serve in promotion of nutrition education and physical activity programming.

Successful applicants will use community engagement and community discovery approaches to advance Michigan’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Education (SNAP-Ed) priorities: 1) help people optimize their food budgets; 2) connect people to food resources; and 3) improve access to healthy food.

Funding will support work focused on enhancing community relationships with local organizations, reaching people where they live, learn, work, eat, play, and shop, and sharing community food resources, not implementing programming. Timeline will run from late April 2026 with work concluding by July 31, 2026.

Funding amounts are based on the number of communities with which applicant organizations will work.

  • $25,000 for work in one community
  • $50,000 for work in two communities

Eligibility

Applicant organizations must:

  • Not be currently funded through SNAP-Ed at Michigan Fitness Foundation
  • Operate in the state of Michigan
  • Already work with SNAP-Ed eligible audiences: SNAP participants, individuals who can receive SNAP benefits or other means-tested Federal assistance programs, and/or individuals residing in communities or attending schools with a significant low-income population. (See the Eligibility document for details).
  • Be able to incur expenses aligned with each set of deliverables. Organizations will be reimbursed a set amount of dollars after deliverables are completed satisfactorily and upon submission of an approved invoice.

Process

Interested applicants must submit organizational information and upload a brief narrative and attestation form, confirming your organization meets all eligibility requirements and understands the scope of this initiative. Applications are being accepted until April 6, 2026.

If your organization’s application is funded, a services agreement will be issued. Work on this initiative will occur from the date of your fully executed services agreement and be completed by July 31, 2026.

What to Expect

Organizations can begin to work on deliverables after a fully executed services agreement is in place and key staff have attended the required orientation on April 22, 2026.

Deliverables

The deliverables are focused on planning and preparation, participating in community-based events, completing a community food access plan process, and conducting wrap up activities. Per community (up to 2 communities):

  • Participate in up to 12 community engagement events that reach SNAP-Ed eligible people to share how to access and use readily available healthy foods in the community using MFF-approved resources.
  • Conduct food access scan(s) using the MFF developed Community Food Connection Plan and resources to develop a community food resource handout and share food resource information with the community.

Organizations will perform work in alignment with SNAP-Ed program parameters, which will be provided by MFF, and attend required training to onboard SNAP-Ed program parameters on April 22, 2026.

Reporting & Payment

Organizations will submit brief monthly write ups outlining progress towards deliverables using the template provided by MFF. Payment will be dispersed on a deliverable basis, meaning when deliverables are completed as evidenced by work product submitted with an invoice.
