Garden Essentials
Thank you for your interest in receiving supplies and resources to support your work in school or community gardens and garden-based nutrition education.
School and community gardens provide opportunities to learn how to grow fruits and vegetables, build skills that can help stretch food budgets, and participate in hands-on nutrition education. Gardens can also serve as spaces for community connection and physical activity.
The Garden Essentials package(s) can help organizations/groups expand or strengthen garden-based programming by providing resources and supplies that support ongoing participation and engagement.
The Garden Essentials set includes tools, seeds, educational materials, and supplies to support community and school gardens. Resources can be used to maintain or expand existing gardens while supporting nutrition education and community engagement.
Planting
Seeds, soil, compost, starter trays & pots, twine, planting bags, plant labels for garden & starts, stakes
Growing
Hose, hose reel, T-post sprinkler, watering timer, watering cans
Harvesting
Baskets (large & small), handwashing sink, salad spinners, scale
Educating
Clipboards, dry erase board, magnifying glasses, garden education children’s books
Maintaining
Storage bins, rolling cart, hand tools (youth & adult), shovel, rake, kneeling pads, gloves (youth & adult), clippers
Reinforcing
Take-home items for program participants that reinforce related education messages and support healthy behaviors at home
The Garden Essentials Expanded set includes everything in the Garden Essentials package plus additional to expand growing space, increase gardening capacity, or strengthen an existing garden.
